Cycle Skills sessions are available to all schools within the Borough and are supported by a number of other interventions to help young people to cycle to school.

Bikeability is the nationally agreed cycle skills programme supported by all the leading cycling bodies and road safety organisations.

Councillor Ayas Miah, Cabinet Member for Environment, said, “Using a bicycle is one of the best methods of sustainable travel for people to adopt. Tower Hamlets Council is working with our partners to offer Bikeability cycle skills to pupils and their parents, and give access to bikes, that will encourage people to think differently about how they travel and support them to make choices that promote easier travel with reduced traffic congestion and pollution.

Paul Lowe, Director of Cycling Instructor Ltd, said, “Learning to ride a bicycle confidently is a key skill for primary age children.  No one can have failed to miss the boom in commuter cycling in London for which young people can prepare by learning cycle skills.

Schools can book cycle skills sessions by contacting Craig Hollins on 0845 6520421 or emailing
